Sparkling, cool water beckons on a sunny afternoon...
Civil War fans can find a world of adventure near The Garden Walk Inn. About 300 feet due west of the Inn Hooker's XX Corps began the Battle above the Clouds, the "highly romanticized" skirmish to recapture Lookout Mountain. Nearby is Point Park, which tells the story of the battle.
To the east is Missionary Ridge, a high point of land that Braxton Bragg tried desparately to hold. The Union Army overran the Confederate positions in Novermber, 1864. About ten miles southeast is Chickamauga, site of the bloodiest two days in American history.
